A Webapp for modeling the Galalxy

CI: – Dr. Sanjib Sharma

Galaxia (Sharma et al. 2011) is a widely used code for theoretical modelling of the Milky Way. Given an analytical or an N-body model it generates a synthetic mock catalog of the Milky Way. Its main use is to test theoretical predictions by comparing them to observational data, this is specially relevant in the current era of large observational surveys of the Milky Way, e.g., Gaia, SDSS, APOGEE, GALAH, RAVE, WEAVE and 4MOST. However, for a lot of users the process of downloading and installing the code acts as a hindrance to doing science. Having a web-interface for Galaxia would be highly preferable and would allow the users to quickly and easily compare their data with the model predictions.
